You can’t spell Kreative without Katie

Katie gets Kreative

September24

Though I’ve been a writer a long time now–I penned my first “novel,” entitled “The Adventures of Egg and Broom,” in kindergarten–it’s still hard for me to jump right in and get started. I need a plan, a profound thought to go on. Otherwise, I feel it’s a waste. I’d rather take two years to write something great than have my name attached to something so-so.

For these reasons, it’s taken me a while to get my blog started (and my novel, at that.) I know, I know. Writer’s Block at its worst. Perhaps I’ll call it Blog Block. Either way, now that I’m doing this, I’ll have to keep on trucking. (By the way, I’m not at all above using cliches. Cliches are so coming back. Oh, and also by the way, on the contrary I am totally above using stupid abbreviations like BTW. Just so you know.)

Up for any additional way to let out my creative juices, I thought it was high time to get on the blog band wagon. Being creative is my favorite thing. (Though the aforementioned sentence was not a very creative one.) At any rate, I love to (same as try to) cook, paint, sew, use color, shapes..I love when things match! I’m obsessed with ornate items but hate gaudiness.

I also like to try creative things. Being unconventional is perhaps the most creative one can be. We’ve been trying to eat locally, with the “franchises are from Satan” mindset; I love discovering new bakeries (presentation is almost as important as the taste of the goodies.)

Still, the concept of going to the same ice cream place every night and getting the same flavor to me is, well, creative. It’s ideal, makes for a good story, or a fleeting happy thought. Creativity is not what you do, I suppose, but how you view what you do instead. Lately I’ve been getting out of the box, on all fronts. So, my creativity–no matter the personal definition–counts.

Thus, this will be my blog. Because it’s my blog, whatever I deem “creative” is creative. When I use the word “boo.” (period included), it means I’m not a fan. “Yay!” means I’m excited, though I’m trying to wean myself off of that term. Overuse is a struggle.

So:

Time to hit the shower. Boo.

More to come soon. Yay!
